Our approach

Documentation

Every object is presented with information concerning its materials, visual characteristics, cultural context and, where available, provenance.

Respect

African cultural objects carry histories that extend beyond their commercial value. Our descriptions aim to treat those histories with care and avoid presenting speculation as established fact.

Terms of Sale

Orders

When you place an order, you are making an offer to purchase the selected item under these Terms.

An order is considered accepted when Shü’Fon confirms acceptance of the order.

We reserve the right to cancel an order where:

  • an item is unavailable;
  • an obvious pricing or description error has occurred;
  • we reasonably suspect fraud;
  • the transaction cannot be completed for reasons outside our reasonable control.

If we cancel an order after payment, we will refund the amount paid using the applicable payment method, subject to the terms of the payment provider.

03

Reservations

Reservation terms

A Reservation saves an item before it is available for immediate delivery.

The estimated availability date displayed on the website is an estimate and may change.

Before purchasing or reserving an item, customers will be informed of:

  • the item's price;
  • the estimated availability;
  • the expected delivery timeframe;
  • applicable shipping charges;
  • payment terms;
  • cancellation/refund conditions.

If an item cannot ultimately be supplied, Shü’Fon will notify the customer and provide the applicable refund or other remedy required by law.

04

Shipping & Delivery

Shipping

Orders are shipped to the address supplied by the customer.

Before completing an order, the customer will be shown:

  • Delivery cost
  • Estimated domestic delivery
  • Estimated international delivery

Delivery times are estimates and may be affected by customs, carriers, weather, public authorities or other circumstances outside Shü’Fon’s reasonable control.

International orders

Customers receiving an international shipment may be responsible for customs duties, import taxes, clearance charges or other fees imposed by the destination country.

These charges are separate from the purchase price unless explicitly stated otherwise.

05

Authenticity

All masks sold are replicas of real traditional masks made by professional artisans from Africa but are not authentic museum pieces.

06

Security

Shü’Fon takes reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information transmitted through the website.

However, no internet transmission or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users should take appropriate measures to protect their accounts, devices and credentials.

07

Cultural Respect & Responsible Representation

Our responsibility

Shü’Fon recognizes that African masks and ceremonial objects are not simply decorative commodities. Many are connected to communities, traditions, institutions, ceremonies and histories that continue to matter today.

We therefore aim to describe objects carefully, distinguish documentation from interpretation, and acknowledge uncertainty where reliable information is unavailable.

We do not claim to speak on behalf of the communities from which objects originate.

08

Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Shü’Fon shall not be responsible for losses arising from circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including interruptions to telecommunications networks, hosting services, payment services, shipping services, customs procedures, natural events or other force-majeure circumstances.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
